Our Mission
Southeastern Life Center (SELC) focuses on integrating care and resources in partnership with our community providers to support our clients to reach their maximum potential in recovery. We recognize each person’s pathway to recovery is unique, however the common bond to their personal recovery, is the need for an integrated support system. Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorders destroy these support systems. We are committed to repairing and rebuilding them.

About SE Life Center
Southeastern Life Center, headquartered in Lumberton, North Carolina, exists to remove the real-life barriers that stand between people and their ability to heal. As a nonprofit organization, we work directly and through trusted partnerships to address the social determinants that so often derail recovery for individuals and families in our community.
Nearly all of us know someone battling addiction or behavioral health challenges. For those living in rural areas, the struggle is often compounded by the absence of necessities—reliable transportation, nutritious meals, access to primary care, and other essential supports that many take for granted.
Every week, the Southeastern Life Center helps restore stability and hope by providing more than 500 transportation trips, delivering over 300 backpacks to children in need, and preparing to serve more than 120,000 meals each year to clients receiving treatment through our partner behavioral health agency.
These efforts are changing lives. We are already seeing meaningful improvements in the health and well-being of the individuals we serve, reinforcing the power of compassionate, community-based support.
The process of recovery is supported through the three Rs -
- Resilience: refers to an individual’s ability to cope with change and adversity.
- Recovery: is supported through relationships and social networks.
- Resources: helps clients to remove barriers to recovery, stay engaged in the recovery process, and live full lives in their community.
Eligibility
Southeastern Life Center services are available to any community member experiencing barriers related to the social determinants of health. These challenges may affect overall well-being and quality of life, and can include circumstances that Southeastern Life Center is uniquely equipped to support. Through compassionate, person-centered programs and resources, we work alongside individuals to help remove barriers, promote stability, and support healthier, more fulfilling lifestyles.
